As you can see, I’ve been taking a blogging break. I’ve given myself permission not to blog until the new year. I’m so ready to step off a plane tomorrow into colder temperatures and the warm arms of family and old friends. It’s been four years since we’ve spent Christmas with our families. We never intended for it to be so long. In fact, the Narrator didn’t believe it had been 4 years until I recounted for him.
2004: 9 months pregnant with Little Miss Sunshine.
2005: Just returned from 2 weeks in Ohio for the unexpected passing of my Grandpa. Too sick and too tired to turn around a week later for Christmas and go again.
2006: Just got out of the hospital with a one-month old who had been quite sick.
In the four years that we’ve been away, we had two brothers and one sister get married, 2 nieces and one nephew born, as well as our own T-Rex and Little Miss. Our families have more than doubled in size. It’s going to be a GREAT Christmas.
We are ready, well except for The Narrator is dealing with a herniated disk and has been in quite a bit of pain today. He told me he might need some of Mr. T’s milk in order to get on the plane tomorrow (remember that from the A-Team?). I told him I didn’t care what it took, he just had to survive a 2 1/2 hour flight because we were getting on that plane. He agreed. So if you’re going through an airport tomorrow and you see a young guy in a wheelchair trailed by a young mom pushing 2 little ones in a stroller, think of us :).
To all of you, have a blessed Christmas and may you see the wonder of Jesus in a child’s eye and the glory of our future that lay in a manger so long ago. Sidenote: if you haven’t watched the movie The Nativity Story – do so!
God bless, and I’ll see you in January refreshed and ready to blog like never before.
