Will you consider using Pray A to Z with your church, or a group in your community for 2017? Let’s join together in prayer and bring God’s light into our communities this next year.
And now for another free download to use as prayer guide for Advent:
The Christmas season is a time to focus on the incredible gift Christ gave us by coming into the middle of our messy world to be with us, to deliver us, and to offer hope and light.
It’s also a season where life gets so full of activities that it can be challenging to slow down and let the truth of Who Christ is sink into our soul.
Use These 6 verses to pray as praise for Who Christ is using A.D.V.E.N.T.
(Click on the graphic below to download and print a copy for your home.)
Pray through these verses each day, or focus on one or two a week, letting the words of truth sink deep into your heart.
Pray them together over a meal, or while tucking your kids into bed.
Or take it one step further and memorize the verses with your family or a couple friends. Think through the words slowly and ask God to make the words come alive in your everyday living this season.
Almighty
Who is he, this King of glory?
The LORD Almighty–he is the king of glory.
Psalm 24:10
Take time to praise God as the Almighty–for his might and power over sin, darkness, and every struggle you face. Offer praise that His strength is incomparable and is available to you.
Deliverer
The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverere;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Psalm 18:2
Praise God as the Deliverer who set His people free. Name the areas in your life in which He has released you from the power of sin, and thank Him for how He is working in the areas where you still struggle.
Victory
Who is this coming from Edom, from Bozrah,
with his garments stained crimson? Who is this, robed in
splendor, striding forward in the greatness of his strength?
“It is I, proclaiming victory, mighty to save.”
Isaiah 63:1
Praise God for His victory over sin and death through Christ. Recall the ways He has brought His victory into your life and community. Offer praise for His victory, which overcomes the world and all the trouble in it.
Eternal One
The eternal God is your refuge,
and underneath are the everlasting arms.
Deuteronomy 33:27
Praise God for His eternity. Remember how He was with you yesterday, praise Him for being with you today, and acknowledge that He already sees tomorrow. Praise God for the eternal life you have with Him as a child of God through the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
Name Above All Names
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him
the name that is above every name, that at the name
of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth
and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge
that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9-11
Praise God for His name that is above all names, and that one day everyone will recognize who He is and bow to acknowledge Him as Lord. Recognize His name and authority as first place in your life.
Truth
If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
John 8:31-32
Praise God that in a world of conflicting facts and opinions, He is Truth. Praise Him for how He made His truth known and set you and your community free through His Word, solid teacher, and His Holy Spirit.
