Oh I wish I were in Florida!

April 6, 2010 by Amelia

It seems like everyone is in Florida this week, because a) they live there OR b) that is where most everyone in Michigan flees to on spring break. Ok, not everyone. But alot of ones. And there they sit, on MY Florida beaches, enjoying MY Florida sunshine. Sigh. So yesterday, I decided to make the most of our spring non-break and count all the things we have in Michigan that Florida doesn’t.

1. I walked across lush, green grass yesterday in my bare feet. Can’t do that in Florida! So long, fire ants!

2. The kids picked dandelions and brought them to me all afternoon. Can’t do that in Florida!

3. I made a yummy cherry crisp from Michigan tart cherries that I froze last fall. T-Rex begged for “just one more cherry!”

And that was it. Then today it rained. Almost all day. And it was cloudy. So we went to the dollar store. And the grocery. And rented a RedBox movie.

BUT! Tomorrow is another day. Maybe we’ll go to Mooville. You don’t have that in Florida either! Really, I’m grasping at straws here, can you tell? Miss you all in the sunny south!

Just keep this in mind. When you are unable to walk from the house to the car or the car to the store without breaking a flipping sweat. THEN you will be oh so glad for those months in MI! πŸ˜‰

What about the lizards? Surely you miss those? We saw one at the pool area yesterday. Man those things are fast!

Don’t forget two of my fave’s …swimming in the LAKES without fear of alligators….some of the lakes up north you can walk out miles and the water is still only right up to your knees…..and walking and playing in your basement…I know me and my basement fetish! πŸ™‚

Ditto to all of the above….I’m sweating already! And I really miss that lovely northern grass under my feet… But I am definitely grateful not to have to dig us out of snow during the winter! πŸ˜‰ Miss you!!

Ryan – the lizards ROCK!! Alyson should totally catch one and bring it home as a pet πŸ˜‰

Oh Mandy, no alligators OR sharks! And basements. Yes, the love of basements. Especially new ones, empty and waiting for all my junk! haha!!

Susan, sweating already? Never a good sign before Memorial Day πŸ™‚ You come visit my grass in summer, and I’ll come visit your sand in winter. Sound good?
