Our family would appreciate your prayers today and the rest of this week. We got a phone call last night saying that Ked’s Grandpa was taken to the hospital for possibly having a stroke. His situation is very serious. I’m at a loss for words today and my emotions are a jumble. He’s the only Great Grandfather that my kids will remember, and they have a very special relationship with him. We all do. He’s a special man who loves God with all his heart.
As I was tucking the kids into bed last night we sat on T-Rex’s bed and prayed for Great Grandpa. T-Rex’s prayers are usually very short “Dear Jesus, please keep us all safe, Amen.” I’ve learned that his brief prayer is really a powerful statement of faith. He loves Jesus and knows that Jesus died and rose again to “Keep us safe.” Those three words have come to mean so much to me because they are true. Jesus came to keep us safe from the eternal effects of sin and death and while we still suffer here on this earth, it’s not without hope.
Last night, T-Rex wanted to pray first, and he prayed and prayed, pouring his little heart out to Jesus. He was thankful for the sunshine and the flowers and then asked Jesus to not only keep us all safe and healthy, but so we would never have to go to the hospital or the doctor. And I breathed, “even so, Lord Jesus, come.” T-Rex was wishing for heaven. As we all are.
