What T-Rex Thinks of my book

The past year has been quite a journey as I wrote Isn’t it Time for a Coffee Break?  I spent many days holed up in a corner of my local coffee shop writing while my kids were at school. Then I rushed home to throw together dinner and help kids with homework. It was quite a balancing act, and my family was so supportive. In fact, I think they even enjoyed all the meals of frozen chicken nuggets and pizza rolls.

When the books arrived last week, it was such a precious moment to share with my family. They are as much a part of this book as I am.

After dinner, I sat at the table signing a few books to send out in the mail and give to family and friends. T-Rex sat at the table across from me polishing off a container of yogurt. With yogurt all over his face he asked, “So you wrote one book and then they made copies of it?” I could tell his little brain was trying to process exactly what I had spent all those days doing and how so many boxes of books had ended up in our living room.

“Yeah buddy. Well, sort of. I didn’t make this actual book. I typed up all the words on my computer, and then somebody else made the pretty design and printed the book and made a bunch of copies.”

He tilted his head to one side with a spoon full of yogurt still in his mouth. I could tell the wheels were turning.

“Well, even if no one else likes the book, I will always like it because….”

He paused just long enough for me to think, “Oh how sweet, no matter what anyone else ever thinks of the book, my sweet little baby will always love it because his Mama wrote it!”

Then he finished his thought, “Because it reminds me of hot chocolate.”

I laughed. Nothing to keep you humble like your kids. And yes, if you don’t like coffee, then just think of it as “Isn’t it Time for a Hot Chocolate Break?”

Love that boy.

Get your copy of the book that reminds T-Rex of hot chocolate in just a few days!!

I love this. Our kids will always keep us humble. My son recently said “Your my mom, you’re not supposed to be a writer. But it’s kind of cool.” God is always good.

LOL! That’s hilarious Brenda! Apparently Moms aren’t suppose to be writers. 🙂

Although I like your book, I don’t like coffee. Maybe T-Rex and I need to have a hot chocolate break.
